When Vern McNicol was looking for a cover for his boat he did his homework. The boat, a 4.8 metre Osprey 480 was purchased second-hand. “It’s an oldie but a goodie”, Vern says, and he was keen to protect his sound investment. “It’s what we wanted, it looks good, and we fell in love with it. It’s worth looking after.”
He searched the internet for the best cover option for the boat, which has quite high bow rails. “That means normal runabout covers wouldn’t fit.” He looked at various sizes and brands and settled on a - 5.66 x 3.53m Cabin with Bow Rails Cover in navy blue from Cover Shop. “All the information was there on their website. It was the best choice and fits like a glove!”
Vern plans to use this boat, as he had his previous Haines Hunter 600. “We cruise somewhere, take the BBQ and have some food. Fishing’s part of it but I really like taking family and friends out, and just being on the water.”
Vern says he’s loved boats since he was young, cutting his teeth taking IRBs through the surf. “I’ve always had an affinity with the ocean.”
While lockdown delayed Vern’s chance to enjoy his recent purchase for the first time as planned, he’s philosophical and is looking forward to that day coming very soon. In the meantime, it’s tucked-up safe and sound.
